IKEA & Cats... two of my favorite things.

Posted by Nick

Now for my second ever cat post, IKEA has a new campaign and for this shoot they released 100 cats to roam around one of their stores to great effect.

Check out the craziness in the actual commercial. Totally tugs the heart strings...and makes me want to spoon my cat in bed ;)

#10. Bad decisions make good stories.

Mature-people-truths_small

I have been saying this for as long as I remember. Seriously, think about it. Every bad decision, even if it ends up really fucking horrible, no especially if it ends up horrible, is a great story. I love that I just read this somewhere else. Thank you internet.

check out the whole list here (I've not finished reading it, stopped at 10 to make this post) :)

Inspiration: The Chase

This "ad" by Intel is super cool. Taking elements of the entire desktop experience, it pushes the term "multimedia" to new levels. Having storyboarded far simpler videos myself, I have to wonder about the concept to production process. It would seem almost impossible to do traditional storyboards of this and fully capture the detailed and complex motions in this video. I think I'd have to watch it several times before I could even absorb really what is going on.

Inspiration: A new type of monitor.

I'll be getting at least 2 of these:
Finally PC hardware design is moving forward. Thank you Samsung.

Now start making something that looks this good with a larger than "1080p" resolution. I use my monitor to work, not watch movies. Gimme 2560x1440 please.

Toasting your buns

Sometimes advertising is really fantastic. When it breaks out of the box and really does something unique and impactful. Like VW's "The Fun Theory" campaign, especially the piano stairs, this Oven Bus Stop with an actual heater element is really impressive and I'm not soon to forget.

While this may cost significantly more than the normal media buy, it seems it's quality over quantity, which seems to be more rare these days with massive banner ad and email driven ad campaigns.

'64 Dodge Hemi concept is sculpted art

Posted by Nick

Just look at this thing. It fills me with pride to know how incredible american concept cars were in the past. Not that there are no modern day examples, but this thing here is simply incredible.

I don’t think there has been a concept car that I’ve wanted to own more than this. Not only is it the birthplace of both the names Hemi and Charger, it’s absolutely a piece of art.

Though I don’t think, even if I owned it, I would test the full 600hp with only drum breaks to slow me down!

Anyone got $1 million+ to spare that I can borrow? :)
